  6.     Online™ allows you to turn normal applications into "shareable" applications. Once an application is "shared", multiple users can use it at the same time. Other things that Online™ allows you to do are to make an application's icon invisible on the desktop (as well as being invisible in most SFGetFile dialog boxes), and to lock the name/icon of an application so it's name and icon cannot be changed be normal means.

  8.     Sometimes when you set an application's attributes and then quit Online™ it will seem like nothing has been changed. To "register" the changes with the Mac, you must close the folder that the icon is in, and then re-open it. Upon re-opening you should see your changes take place (unless it's invisible, and then you won't see anything at all).

  10. Power User Notes:
  11.     If you drop an Application icon on Online™'s icon (this feature is only available under System 7.0+), Online™ will configure that icon to the configuration set under Online™'s preferences (these can be set with the Preference command under the File menu).

  13. Online™ is a very System Seven friendly application in that it uses AppleEvents, BalloonHelp, and is completely 32-bit compatible, but is completely usable under System six. (I assume it's usable on even earlier system's, but have been unable to test it.)

  27. Notes:
  28. - Invisible files cannot be accessed by aliases (a System Seven feature).
  29. - Most programs will not be able to access invisible files (ResEdit is a notable exception....)
  30. - Locking the name/icon of an application is different than selecting "lock" in the Get Info Dialog Box. If the name/icon of an application is locked, you can still change it's memory usage and comments.
  31. - I hope all you network administrators find this program extremely useful.
  32. - There is rumours that this program can sometimes cause a network lock up....I've been running it on a network of 30 Macs for two years and have had no problems, but please consider yourselves warned.
